Medium sized dogs
All you need to know about 'just right' dogs
Interested in buying medium sized dogs? That is, a dog

descriptions and facts about many different middle size
breeds that
will make the task of choosing a dog breed easier.

Medium dogs are popular with families who don't want something too
small underfoot but not too large to get into the family car.
Don't forget to check out Small Dog Breeds or

Definition of a medium dog
Medium dogs are generally between 40
cm (16 inches) and 58 cm (24 inches) at the shoulder. They would
generally weigh from 11-25kg (25-50 pounds).
There's no hard and fast rule, though, as there is no
official kennel council or club group for these breeds.
Some of the dogs listed below will border on being large
(more than 58 cm - 24 inches), particularly the males. So do
check the breed descriptions if you want to be sure how
large a puppy will grow.

If you're going for mixed breed
dogs or crossbreeds, make
sure you know what different breeds have gone into your
puppy because crossing some medium dogs with a larger breed
could result in quite a sizeable pooch!
